Pastor Sterling R. Swann, Jr.

Pastor Sterling R. Swann, Jr. was born May 26, 1962 to Sterling Sr. and Carolyn F. Swann in Washington, D.C. and was raised in a small town called Chicamuxen, Maryland. He attended church with his parents at an early age worshipping at both the Mt. Hope Baptist Church and the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Pastor Swann accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at the age of 10 and joined the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church under the Pastorate of Reverend A.E. Jones. Pastor Swann became active in the Sunday School and sang with the youth choir.

Following graduation from high school, Pastor Swann enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served a four year tour of duty. While serving overseas in Incirlik, Turkey the Lord revealed to Pastor Swann that he had a special purpose for his life. In the fall of 1984, Pastor Swann and Sis. Carolyn D. Swann were joined in holy matrimony. This union has produced 2 wonderful children: A son, Paul Anthony(deceased) and a daughter, Alisha Nicole-9yrs old. In 1987, Pastor Swann ordained a Deacon at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and later that year was elected as the Co-Chairman of the Deacon Board. In May 1988, the Lord called Pastor Swann into the Gospel Ministry, and he preached his initial sermon on July 31, 1988. In October 1988, Pastor Swann enrolled in the Washington Baptist Seminary and graduated with honors in June 1992. In August 1992, Pastor Swann enrolled in the Maple Springs Baptist Bible College and Seminary to continue his religious education. He attended the Trinity Bible Institute graduated in spring of 2000.

Pastor Swann has served in many areas of ministry through out the area. He has served as the assistant to the pastor and director of the Board of Christian Education at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church; instructor for the Potomac River Baptist Association and the Capital Baptist Convention of Washington, D.C. and Vicinity; and secretary of the Ministers Conference of Charles County and Vicinity.

By God's divine providence, on July 25, 1993, the members of the Mt Enon Missionary Baptist Church exteded the pastoral call to Pastor Swann and he assumed those duties in August 1993. Since being Pastor the Lord has blessed Mt. Enon to move into their ediface at 329 34th Street, acquired a 15 passenger van for the church's use, implement various teaching ministries, and organize various community outreach and missions programs. Pastor Swann continually give praise to God for all of his wonderful blessings and is string to be all that the Lord wants him to be in Christ Jesus. He tries to live by the words as recorded in Galatians 2:20:

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
