October 13-19
In this passage of scripture Jesus continues his discourse of teaching from the mount. He describes two ways that a man may travel: A wide gate and broad way, which many are traveling but it leads to destruction; and a strait gate and narrow way which few are traveling but leads to life.
This Broad way is attractive. Many perks are on this way. Popularity, riches and material prosperity are on this way. But there is one catch, this way leads to destruction: an eternity in a burning Hell. The other way, this narrow strait way isn't popular. There is a lot of heartache, disappointments and trials on this way. People traveling this way are disliked, mistreated, and outcast. So why bother going this way? Why go through life being hated and abused? The answer is that the strait and narrow way leads to life: an Abundant life now and Eternal life in Heaven with Jesus.
Which way will you choose? Will you choose the broad way to be popular, rich and successful, and in up in Hell at the end of your life? Or will you choose to follow the way of Jesus, the strait and narrow way, which leads to life. You won't be Popular! You won't be well received by many! You will have problems and disappointments. But Jesus says"For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us." Living for Jesus is definitely worth it! ! !
