Psalm 92:1 (KJV)
It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High:
Thanksgiving Day is right around the corner. It's a day where we reflect upon the year and give thanks for those things that have happen to our loved ones and us. But as we enter this Thanksgiving season, do we have anything to be thankful for? When the world is in such turmoil and the threat of war grows more everyday; when our children are no longer safe in school or to play outside with their friends; when we have experienced an untimely and tragic death of a loved one, what then do we have to be thankful for?
The Word of God tells us that "It is a Good thing to give thanks unto the Lord". Despite what we see around us, and/or what negative things we have experienced, God is still good. He wakes us up each morning, and keeps us throughout the day. He provides for our every need and protects us by his power. The food we eat, the clothes we wear, the money we make from working on our jobs, all comes from God. It is a Good thing to give thanks unto the Lord.
Not only is it good to give thanks unto the Lord, but also to sing praises unto his name. The Lord is worthy of all Praise and Glory. Whenever we think about his goodness, we can not help but give his name the praise.
So during this Thanksgiving holiday if you are tempted to think or say that you have nothing to be thankful about just pause and think about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He died on the cross for our sins, was buried for our judgement and resurrected for our justification. We live because he lives, and that's reason to be Thankful.
