Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. Well my friends, this year is almost over. We find ourselves in the last month of 2002, the month of December. In this month we celebrate Christmas and many of us have already begun our shopping and decorating. But as we prepare for this holiday season let us not forget why we celebrate. The Word of God tells us that an angel by the name of Gabriel visited a virgin girl by the name of Mary. This young girl was of a pure heart and sincerely loved the Lord her God. She was told by this angel that she would become pregnant and bear a son, and would call his name "JESUS (God is Salvation). The name Emmanuel, God with us, and Jesus, God (Yehovah) is Salvation describes the same person. For Jesus was God in the flesh and he came to save mankind from its sin. Christmas is all about Jesus, the sinless Lamb of God who came to take away the sin of the world. So as we make preparations for this Christmas holiday season, let us remember why we celebrate Christmas. Without Jesus, there would be no Christmas for he is the Reason for the Season.
